103 CHILDREN ARE CANCER FREE AND LEADING A HEALTHY LIFE

Sachin a three year old kid, had complaints of fever and anemia. His father Girish Kumar, a fruit seller by profession, took him to the local doctor. When the treatment did not help he brought the child to Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre. Cancer was suspected. A bone marrow test lead to the diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The diagnosis was a shock to the parents. Meager earnings of kid’s father cast a gloom on the parents as they could not afford the costly treatment of the cancer.

It was a great relief to the plight of Sachin and his parents when the treating doctor told them about “Donate A Life Project” under which free treatment for the diagnosed cancer was available. The child was registered under the project and received multi stage chemotherapy treatment.

Today the child is cancer free, healthy and leading a normal life.

With an objective of gifting a complete happy life with holistic health and wellness, “Donate A Life Project” programme has been initiated by BMCHRC to extend free treatment for the treatable blood cancers (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Low Risk (ALL), Acute Promylocyric Leukemia (APML), Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (HL)) in the children aged between 1 and 14.

Project stared in August 2014 & anticipated expenditure per patient is Rs 5 Lacs.

153 Children received free treatment including medicines worth Rs 4,29,57,249 till December 2019.

Including Sachin 103 children are cancer free and leading a normal & healthy life.
