Raamkripal Meena's victory over cancer
Raamkripal Meena’s
battle with oral cancer began at 2016 with a persisting red spot on the bottom
right side of his tongue.
Raamkripal Meena is a
resident of Rajgarh, Alwar and an employee of Indian Railways. Mr. Meena started chewing tobacco when he was young, but it was hard to find anything to smile
about when a small spot in his mouth proved to be cancer in 2016.
Mr. Meena was consulted by Dr.
Pawan Agarwal, Consultant Oncologist at Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital, Jaipur. Where he was suggested for surgery and gave him the
confidence to fight against a deadly disease like cancer.
He underwent 10
months of regular treatment and now he has a clean bill of health.
If you think smokeless
tobacco is a safer alternative to cigarettes, think again. One can of dip has as much nicotine as three
packs of cigarettes, leading to quick addiction.
When he could finally
return to work Mr. Meena knew he was on his way. He’s become a preacher of sorts at
work. When he sees young men who dip, or use smokeless tobacco, he has a few
choice words.
“You take a look at
me,” he warns. “You don’t want to go through what I went through.”
