Brave Heart: Late Shri Vidhya Vinod Kala

“When Late Shri V.V Kala was detected with cancer in 1991, there wasn’t any reliable cancer treatment in Jaipur. He was operated by Dr. P.B. Desai in Bombay Hospital. He had to travel to Delhi every week to get his chemotherapies and other tests done. He couldn’t forget the pain he had to undergo and stress in Mumbai & Delhi as cancer patient. That’s why he thought of bringing-up a cancer hospital in Jaipur.

Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre named by him was solely Kala’s brainchild. He was determined that in future no cancer patient would undergo such a trauma and pain.
On Mahaveer Jayanti in 1991 at Ramlila Ground, he publicly appealed to the Gov of Rajasthan for establishing a cancer hospital in Jaipur. The then Chief Minister Late Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat took it as a commitment. He willingly & gracefully accepted Mr. Kala’s appeal and assured immediate support to construct the hospital.

Shri Kala spent his final seven years nurturing his dream to make hospital a reality which has now turned into a huge centre under the Chairmanship of Shri Navrattan Kothari. The Hospital has completed its 19 years, all Cancer treatment facilities are under one roof and all the patients need not to go out of Jaipur for any treatment for cancer. Late Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat used to consider this hospital as his favorite place and celebrated his birthday every year.
To remember his contribution to the hospital, We at BMCHRC every year remember him on his death anniversary which is on 21st July. On this occasion the trustees and their families and members of the hospital pays floral tribute to the divine soul of Shri Kala and remember him for putting up this excellent institute for the people who are benefitted. Also on this day Kala family distributed gifts to cancer patients.

The Gift & Responsibility Given by Shri V. V. Kala is greatly taken care by Shri Navrattan Kothari & His Wife Smt. Anila Kothari.
